| The Cuvée "Club des Amateurs de Guionne" |
Isabelle and Alain Fabre, originally from Languedoc Roussillon, settled in Côtes de Bourg in May 2000, and purchased Château Guione.
The property is situated on chalky-clay land on the south-facing slopes on the village of Lansac in the heart of Côtes de Bourg. The 21 hectares of vines are blessed with abundant sunshine, and planted with the noble grape varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec, so important for the production of high-quality wines.
Seeking to satisfy a wide spectrum of wine lovers, the vineyard produces a full range of products : the jewel in the crown is the "Cuvée Renaissance" winning a medal at the "Citadelle des Vins 2005", and particularly recommended in several gastronomic reviews.
Château Guionne follows the traditional methods of winemaking : the harvested grapes are rigorously sorted by hand, and aged for 12-18 months in tanks and oak casks.
The "Club des Amateurs de Guionne"
The club was formed so that Alain and Isabelle Fabre could share their passion for winemaking with those who have discovered Guionne. The founders meeting was held on October 16th, 2005, and those present were able to pick the grapes for the first vintage of the club. They were then given a demonstration of the techniques of winemaking, before finishing the day with a relaxed and friendly lunch. |
